First Day at the Office
A new employee arrives at a technology company in London and meets her colleagues for the first time.

Today is Monday, 3 March. It is Sarah Mitchell's first day at work. She is a new Marketing Assistant at GlobalBridge Ltd, a small technology company in central London. The company has 45 employees. The office is on the 4th floor of a building on King Street.

Sarah arrives at the office at 8:45 am. The working day starts at 9:00 am and finishes at 5:30 pm. There is a lunch break from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

At reception, she meets Mr James Okafor, the Office Manager. He gives her a visitor badge, a computer password, and a copy of the office rules. He shows her the kitchen, the meeting rooms, and the fire exit.

Sarah's desk is in the Marketing Department, on the right side of the office. Her manager is Ms Diana Holt, the Head of Marketing. Diana's office is in the corner, next to the window.

Diana:Every Monday at 10:00 am in Meeting Room B. It usually takes about 45 minutes.
Sarah:And where is the printer?
Diana:Next to the photocopier, near the window. Your monthly salary is £2,400. You get paid on the last Friday of every month.

After the meeting, Sarah reads a short welcome email from the HR Department.
